The Charleston Law Review and The Riley Institute at Furman University present the fourteenth annual Law & Society symposium
This year renowned experts in law, medicine, academia and advocacy will weigh in on issues surrounding mental health and discuss novel ways of advocating for a more equitable approach to mental illness within the legal system. Panelists and speakers will explore the decriminalization of mental illness and diversionary court systems, address the prevalence of mood disorders and substance abuse within the legal profession, and highlight advocacy initiatives within our community. It is time to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental health and share ways legal professionals can advocate more effectively for clients, themselves, and the community.
