SALEM, MA —More than two dozen of the cats that were recently brought to Salem after being rescued from a hoarding case in Tulsa, which included severe neglect, are still up for adoption through the Northeast Animal Shelter. The cats were among 41 cats and eight dogs MSPCA-Angell and Northeast brought to New England for veterinary care and to find their forever homes. Three of the animals — a blind cat named Alice, a 3-year-old Boxer named Bailey and a 10-year-old Jack Russell named "Rosie" —need additional care and are either recovering or scheduled for surgeries. The pets were rescued from a home in Oklahoma that was determined to be unsanitary and unsafe. The animals were surrendered to the Humane Society of Tulsa with their flight to New England sponsored by Bissell Pet Foundation. The available cats have been determined to be in healthy condition. The cats are between three months and 10 years old and are described as shy from their previous surroundings. Anyone interested in meeting and possibly adopting one or more of the cats can schedule an appointment here. Among the pets still needing care is Rosie, who was scheduled for dental surgery Thursday at Nevins Farm. Bailey the Boxer is set for dental surgery this week. Little Alice the cat arrived with urine staining across much of her body. She's deaf and already had one eye removed. It was then determined that her other eye —which was painful, inflamed, and left her blind — also had to be removed. "This love bug is now recovering in foster care," the MSPCA said. Those wishing to donate to help offset the medical costs for the remaining animals can do so here.
