After moving from Lancaster, PA to Nashville, TN in 2016, primary songwriter Elijah Perron formed the first iteration of New Suede, regionally touring and releasing three popular singles that quickly garnered audiences’ attention fusing funk and rock. Having performed live for over 11 years and in 8 different states, Perron continues to be the sociable stage performer his audience knows and loves. After being selected to perform at Middle Tennessee State University—where he received his training in Audio Production—Perron went on to work with a variety of industry professionals and perform at a multitude of popular venues, including University of Alabama, Nashville’s EXIT/IN, and The Lititz Shirt Factory in Pennsylvania.
Inspired by a passion to create something unique which intrigues and connects people through music, Perron’s work plays with the genres that exist within genres, intuitively producing rhythm-driven riffs, smooth melodies, and a unique spectrum of funk-rock sounds—all while emanating personal moments of acceptance and realization. Although originally a four piece set of guitar, drums, bass, and keys, New Suede’s return adds a blues harp and saxophone to create a blended sound with multiple bases. Rock and roll with some shades of funk, blues, and folk, New Suede’s sound merges passion, improvisational spontaneity, and a stew of intriguing musical influences. New Suede’s first full album will be released in January 2022, with the demos recorded on Perron’s personal equipment before being cut at Welcome to 1979 Studios this past June. Consistently obsessive about his music, Perron’s future goals include continuing to improve his craft while blazing a trail of New Suede funk around the world.
