LAKELAND, FL — The city of Lakeland is hosting "Disposal Event" Saturday where residents can throw away household hazardous waste and electronics, the Polk County website said. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency website, hazardous waste recycling helps prevent environmental hazards, protects scarce natural resources, provides economic benefits and reduces the nation's resilience on raw materials and energy. The county has provided a list below of what's acceptable to dispose of at the city event.
