MOUNT VERNON, NY — A Mount Vernon teenager was arrested after being caught with a loaded handgun on Wednesday, police said.
Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit were patrolling the 200 block of South Third Avenue when they spotted the 16-year-old who was already being sought in connection with a previous home invasion. When detectives approached the teenage suspect, he attempted to conceal an object in his waistband, police said.
The detectives recovered a loaded, 9mm semi-automatic pistol from the suspect, according to police officials.
