MEDFORD, MA — A Medford firefighter retired this week after more than three decades with the fire department.
James "Jimmy" Giarrizzo joined the Medford Fire Department in 1987 and was promoted to lieutenant in 1995, Fire Chief John Freedman said. During his 34-year career, he was assigned to Engine One, Engine Three, Engine Four, Engine Five, Ladder Two and the ERU.
"Lt. Giarrizzo has been a dedicated firefighter and fire officer, showing consideration for his fellow firefighters at all times," Freedman said in a statement. "He has provided excellent service to the Medford Fire Department and the citizens of this community, for whom he served with distinction."
Giarrizzo retired Feb. 1.
