Press release from the City of Long Beach: February 2, 2022 In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, the City of Long Beach invited elementary, middle & high school students from the barrier island to participate in honoring the legacy of Dr. King by submitting a poster or essay. The students thoughtfully reflected on Dr. King's dream, tying in the theme of "More Than A Dream". We had an overwhelming response of expressive artwork and essays. Thank you to all the students and teachers who participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Poster/Essay contest. Thank you also to our judges. We sincerely appreciate your time and effort in making the contest a success. The Essay winners are:High School: Brooke Grade 11, Ana Grade 10, and Isabella Grade 10Middle & Elementary School: Rylee Grade 6, Brooke Grade 3 and Kylie Grade 2 The Poster winners are:Middle School: Charley Grade 7Elementary School: Shakira Grade 2, Aliyah Grade 2, Scarlett Grade4, Vivian Grade 4, Grayson Grade 4, Anthony Grade 4, Liam Grade 5, Loren Grade 5, Maximo Grade 5, and Kieran.
