Stamford Issues Statement On Patio Collapse At Allure Building

STAMFORD, CT — The city of Stamford Buildings and Engineering Departments are investigating and seeking information about the nature and cause of a collapse at a parking garage at 850 Pacific St. in Harbor Point, site of a residential building known as The Allure. News 12 CT reported that an unused part of a pool patio collapsed and fell into the parking garage Tuesday. No injuries or damage to property were reported. "At this time, the city has no reason to believe that there are any immediate risks to similar buildings in the South End, however, the Buildings and Fire Departments have been ordered to conduct visual inspections of other similar locations, and the Engineering Department is determining what additional information the city needs from the building owners," the city said in a statement Wednesday night. "The city expects full cooperation with that effort." Garage floors 3 and 4 at 850 Pacific St. will remain closed until further notice. The city urged any resident or visitor who notices an unsafe condition to call 911 immediately. According to the Stamford Advocate, the building is owned by Building and Land Technology, and was built in 2017. BLT told the Advocate that the building is structurally sound, but it will examine its properties.
