Description

Andrea Campbell, a former Boston city councilor who ran for mayor, will enter the race for attorney general. Campbell, 39, was set to announce her campaign at a Wednesday morning press conference. "I've dedicated my life to fighting for greater equity and opportunity," her Twitter account, now called @AndreaForAG, said. "Now I'm running for Attorney General to be an advocate for fundamental change and progress." The Mattapan resident is angling to succeed Maura Healey, who entered the race for governor as the immediate heavy favorite. Campbell would be the first Black woman to serve as attorney general, the same distinction she would have held if elected mayor of Boston. Campbell finished failed to get out of the mayoral primary, finishing behind City Councilors Annissa Essaibi George and eventual winner Michelle Wu. Patch will update this story
