Description

NAUGATUCK, CT — Naugatuck is installing a camera surveillance system in Linden Park to catch people who litter and illegally dump refuse, the Republican-American reported. The camera system will cost the borough just under $7,000, and will read license plates, among other surveillance. Footage will be stored to allow police officers to view it if a littering incident occurs. Linden Park is one of about a half-dozen areas around the borough that have been targets for illegal dumping. If the pilot effort is successful, the borough reportedly could add more camera systems, in an effort to utilize technology to assist police with fighting crime. Read the Rep-Am story.
