LEESBURG, VA — A pair of women were hit by a car outside of a police station in Leesburg on Wednesday night, according to a report from the Leesburg Police Department. One woman reported minor injuries while the other remains hospitalized in stable condition. The crash occurred outside of the Leesburg Public Safety Center just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Through their investigation, authorities determined that a car was travelling northbound on Plaza Street NE when the driver stopped for two women who were using the marked crosswalk. A second vehicle driving northbound then crashed into the back of the stopped car, which hit the two pedestrians, police said. When a Leesburg police officer arrived on the scene, one of the pedestrians was stuck under a vehicle. The officer and bystanders in the area worked together to lift the vehicle off the woman and free her, according to the police report. Police officers provided first aid to the woman until responders from the fire and rescue system arrived to provide further medical assistance. The two pedestrians and the driver who stopped for them were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Last night, the driver and one of the pedestrians were being treated for minor injuries. As of this morning, the second pedestrian is listed in stable condition at the hospital. The other driver remained on the scene and cooperated with police, according to a report from the police department. Officers with the Leesburg Police Department are still investigating the crash.
