HO-HO-KUS, NJ — Bergen County Executive James Tedesco III is recovering from dehydration after he fainted at a gathering Wednesday, his office said.
Tedesco, a Paramus native, was at a private event in Ho-Ho-Kus when he felt light-headed and briefly fainted, according to a statement from the county. He went to the hospital as a precautionary measure, was given fluids, and went home.
He will return to work Friday, according to a statement provided by Derek Sands, the county Director of Communications.
"It is no secret that the County Executive works non-stop and on occasion has been known to miss a meal," the statement said.
Law enforcement escorted Tedesco from the gathering in Ho-Ho-Kus to the hospital around 9:30 p.m., according to the Daily Voice.
Tedesco has served in the county executive role since 2015. He is a volunteer firefighter with Paramus Fire Department and former mayor of his hometown.
