Here are the top three stories today in Charleston: The Charleston District of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has received over $21 million in funding. The new funding comes from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and is to be used on projects during the 2022 fiscal year. The new Act was signed into law last November and will provide 17.1 billion for U.S. infrastructure. (WTMA)A Charleston native has been nominated to the U.S. Navy Leadership. According to a statement from the Secretary of Defense, Captain George Bresnihan has been nominated for promotion to the rank of Rear Admiral in the Navy. The rank is the fifth-highest in the Navy. Bresnihan has served in the Navy since 1994. (WCBD News 2)According to a report filed by the Charleston Police Department, a man has been arrested for assaulting and attempting to spit on an officer downtown. 18-year-old Ahmek Deshine Singleton was being questioned and found in possession of cannabis when it was discovered he had an active warrant for a parole violation.
