CONCORD, NH — State health officials announced that due to the impending storm, all outdoor fixed coronavirus testing sites will be closed on Friday. Beginning next week, hours related to storm events at the seven sites will align with local school systems, on Monday through Friday. "If the municipal school district where a testing site is located cancels school due to inclement weather, the testing site in that municipality will also be closed that day," according to The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services public information office. "When schools in the municipality are open, the state-run outdoor testing sites will also be operational. Decisions made by school systems in proximity to the municipality where the outdoor testing site is located will have no bearing on the operation of the testing site." During weekends, officials will make severe weather closure decisions based on National Weather Service information. Sites are currently located in Belmont, Claremont, Keene, Lincoln, Manchester, Nashua, and Newington. Don't Feed The … Deer New Hampshire Fish and Game are advising residents not to feed deer even if they may want to help or think they are doing the right thing. "Although people may feel badly for deer and want to help, the Fish and Game Department would like to remind the public to never feed deer as it may actually harm them," Becky Fuda, the department's deer project leader, said. Even in the winter, deer are perfectly fine and have developed adaptive behaviors to help them survive — which means they do not need supplemental food. Feeding deer also draws them out of the supplemental feeding sites. Conservation and management of natural winter habitat is the key to the long-term survival of deer, not the placement of human-provided food sources, Fuda said. "Aside from death directly associated with feeding, several other negative consequences are associated with winter feeding of deer," Fuda said. "These can include an increased likelihood of vehicle collisions, over-browsing of local vegetation and ornamental plants, increased risk of predation, and an increased risk of disease transmission, which is why Fish and Game strongly discourages the practice."
