CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — City officials closed City Hall Wednesday afternoon due to several inches of snow from a winter storm which hit the Chicagoland area late Tuesday night.
A winter storm warning remains in effect for DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, Will and central and southern Cook counties until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Patchy blowing and drifting snow is possible in open areas, and could reduce visibility for those traveling during the evening commute, according to the weather service.
City officials closed municipal buildings at noon Wednesday and also postponed garbage pickup until Thursday. Depending on how much snow accumulates overnight, a city spokeswoman said they are prepared to close City Hall tomorrow as well.
