RIVERHEAD, NY— A ribbon-cutting is planned to welcome the Montauk Distilling Co. to the former Second Street firehouse in downtown Riverhead next week.
According to the Riverhead Chamber of Commerce, Riverhead Town Supervisor Yvette Aguiar, as as well as members of the town board and the chamber, will be onhand for the event, which takes place on Friday, October 2 at 2 p.m. at the firehouse, located at 24 E. 2nd Street.
After eight years upstate, the business has "opened the firehouse door" in the bay next to the North Fork Brewing Company, the Riverhead Chamber said.
The new space is home to the business' tasting room and bar, as well as the fully operational New York State farm distillery, the chamber said. Although the Montauk Distilling Co. opened on August 1, the ribbon-cutting marks a weekend-long celebration with the community, during which guests can enjoy discounted fare and signature cocktails.
Coronavirus protocols will be followed, and reservations are recommended, the chamber said.
"We could not be more excited to be part of the continued revitalization of downtown Riverhead and are looking forward to welcoming the entire community and beyond to our new home," the Montauk Distilling Co. team said.
