HOOVER, AL — Between football season and baseball season, Hoover standout Robby Ashford needed to make a decision on his college plans. Ashford had been an Ole Miss commit before head coach Matt Luke was fired earlier this month, but changed his mind and announced Wednesday he will play football and baseball at Oregon next year.
On second thought, IM ALL IN #GoDucks https://t.co/skDGa7jvxN— Robby Ashford (@robby_ashford) December 18, 2019 Ashford announced Wednesday afternoon via Twitter that he planned to sign with the Ducks in February but then made the commitment official a short time later.
Ashford suffered an injury early in the 2019 football season but came back in time for the playoffs, winning two games a starter.
The only variable in Ashford's commitment is that he could very well be drafted in the Major League Baseball draft in the spring, and would then need to decide on his future in athletics at that point.
