GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A man from Duluth has pleaded guilty to participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, reported WSB-TV.
Jonathan Davis Laurens, 39, reportedly made several Facebook posts days later about being inside the Capitol during the riot.
"We got into the capitol, walked around, chanted some slogans and stuff," he wrote. "We weren't there to tear (expletive) up, just disrupt the system. All in all, I had fun! LOL."
On Wednesday, Laurens appeared before a judge virtually, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of demonstrating in the Capitol. The charge carries a sentence of up to six months in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Laurens is the seventh Jan. 6 defendant from Georgia to plead guilty. Five of the seven have pleaded to misdemeanors, while the cases of defendants with more-serious charges are moving more slowly, the AJC reported.
