TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama football defensive coordinator Pete Golding has released a statement apologizing for a DUI arrest early Thursday morning in Northport that grabbed national headlines. According to the statement, provided to Patch by Tuscaloosa attorney Jason Neff, Golding expressed remorse for his actions that led to the misdemeanor charge. "I sincerely apologize to everyone in our organization, including our players, Coach Saban, the staff, The University of Alabama, my family and our fans," the 37-year-old Louisiana native said Thursday evening. "Regardless of the outcome of this pending investigation, I did not uphold the values I have for myself and the values of the Alabama football program. I am committed to learning and growing from this mistake and I will work to earn back the trust of those who I have disappointed." As Patch reported earlier on Thursday, the Northport Police Department confirmed that Golding was arrested around 1 a.m. in Northport for driving under the influence. NPD declined to provide the exact location of the traffic stop, saying only that it was within the Northport city limits and Golding was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail following the arrest, with jail records showing his bond to be set at $500. He was released some time Thursday afternoon. The Hammond, Louisiana native has been Alabama's full-time defensive coordinator since 2018 and was on the staff in 2020 when the Crimson Tide won the College Football Playoff championship. Golding's status with the program remains unclear, as neither Saban nor the athletic department have released statements following the news. This is a developing story.
