ATLANTA, GA — CNN Worldwide President and WarnerMedia News and Sports Chairman Jeff Zucker announced his resignation from the network in a memo that "stunned" employees of the company Wednesday morning, citing an undisclosed relationship with a senior executive.
The undisclosed relationship was with CNN Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Allison Gollust, who is remaining at CNN, according to CNN Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stetler. Zucker didn't name Gollust in his statement.
The relationship was uncovered during the investigation into Chris Cuomo's tenure at the network, according to the memo shared by Stetler.
The network fired Cuomo in early December after learning he used his position to aid his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, when the latter was accused of sexual assault by multiple women.
Gollust is a former communications director for Andrew Cuomo, a job she held briefly before being hired at CNN, according to her company profile.
In their separate statements, Zucker and Gollust expressed regret over not reporting the relationship, which Gollust said started to change during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the report from Stetler.
