My cat scratching my furniture

I’m asking for help!!!! Has anyone experienced there cat scratching there new furniture??? I rescued 2 cats and seems they are now interested in scratching my furniture…I see lots of stuff on Amazon like tape, sprays, etc, but don’t have money to waste..If you dealt with the same problem and found a way to stop it, PLEASE let me know what you used..I don’t want to just cover the couch with blankets, I want to stop them from scratching on it…I have a 7 ft. Cat tree with scratch pad on it but it’s not stopping them from going to my couch….Any help/suggestions is appreciated
