WOBURN, MA — Woburn's Lanna Thai Diner is temporarily closed due to a fire that began in the restaurant's kitchen Wednesday, the restaurant said early Thursday morning. At least one member of the restaurant's staff was injured, with minor burns, Fire Chief Stephen Adgate said. The entire staff went to Lahey Hospital for evaluation, but everyone was "okay," the restaurant said in a Facebook update. The fire was first reported shortly after 11 a.m. by a passerby who noticed smoke coming from the Main Street building. The fire was declared a working fire, bringing in all Woburn resoruces as well as mutual aid from Winchester. Reading and Burlington firefighters provided station coverage during the incident. The fire began in the stove area and spread through the building interior, following the duct system, Adgate said. "It was quickly put out," Adgate said. "Probably took 15 or 20 minutes before we had extinguishment." Adgate said that firefighters learned that one cook had burns on his arms and EMTs recommended he be taken to the hospital, but the cook declined. The burns were not life threatening. No firefighters were injured. Adgate praised his department for their response to the fire. Christopher Huffaker can be reached at 412-265-8353 or [email protected].
