WOBURN, MA — Woburn police arrested two people that a detective saw "fishing" from a mailbox, the department said Wednesday.
Over the last month the department "received numerous reports of check fraud."
"These reports were connected back to mail theft from a drive up mailbox at the Federal Street Post Office," the department said. "This type of crime is referred to as mailbox fishing."
Over the last few weeks detectives staked out the mailbox, and at around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning, a detective saw two people fishing.
The two people were arrested and charged with unspecified offenses, the department said.
