I'm a little confused on which political party had slaves

It was the Democrats who owned slaves, were also the KKK, flew the Southern Cross flag, Didn't want blacks to be able to vote and basically hated everything about black people. Why do they try and turn the tables an accuse the Republicans for doing all the bad things they have done? It's kind of like today. They don't quit with all their lying, cheating and misinformation. When I die, I hope I don't vote Democrat.
