Description
HOOVER, AL — The historic Hoover-Randle home on Tyler road will soon be the property of the City of Hoover. The city announced this week the purchase of the Hoover-Randle Home & Gardens for $1.6 million.
A report by the Birmingham Business Journal said the city council will decide at a later date how to fund the purchase of the property and what the home's purpose will be. The home is currently used as an event venue.
William Henry Hoover built the home in 1944, and the Hoover family lived there until 1987 when it was purchased by Ed and Barbara Randle. The Randles spent two years remodeling and updating the house, and in 1990, it became the first City of Hoover structure to be placed on the National Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
