HOOVER, AL — The amount of money the City of Hoover gives annually to the Hoover City Schools Foundation could be a little less in the coming years if the Hoover City Council moves forward woth a suggested decrease in annual funding to the organization. An ABC 33/40 report said at the council's last meeting, the funding decrease was discussed by council members. With overall funding for schools from the state level fairly low compared to other states, many communities have formed their own funding organizations in the last several years to make up for the lack of state funding. The Hoover City Schools Foundation was established in 1992 to support Hoover City Schools by funding enhanced academics through grants, scholarships and innovative programs. The ABC 33/40 report said the council is considering a decrease in funding from $50,000 per year to $10,000. Read the full ABC 33.40 report here.
