Jenny is looking for her permanent home. She will be 2 years in March. She is a Lab mix, tan colored lovable girl who will make a wonderful companion. Jenny is oh so sweet; everyone says so. She is a very good, chill girl who LOVES belly rubs. She seeks out affection but isn’t needy and doesn’t have to follow her people around the house. She has become a lap dog. Jenny is treats motivated so learns new commands easily and she is potty trained (even in 20/30-degree weather!). She likes to go for walks and does really well on (and off) leash; never pulls. Jenny shows no aggression but I think could be a good watch dog. She has only barked twice since we've had her and, in both cases, she was barking at suspicious noises. Jenny is not afraid of loud sounds (like fireworks), except maybe for squeaky toys. She doesn’t chew on anything but her toys/bones. She has done well when we have left her in the home alone for a few hours. She doesn't shed much. Jenny likes all adults but is afraid of young kids; although I think she would do fine in a home with young kids once she trusts they won't hurt her. Jenny was a stray and was taken to Cortez Rescue in early September after she was run over by a cargo truck. The vet needed to put in a plate because her right hip and femur were both broken. On September 29, she delivered 6 puppies via cesarean, all survived (and are now posted on the rescue’s website. They’re the “J” puppies). Jenny is recovering very well from her surgery and it doesn’t appear that she is in any pain. She does great on long walks and even initiates a jogging pace. Although her broken leg is a little shorter, it doesn’t hold her back. Jenny came up from Cortez Rescue, a shelter in the southern Baja. She was given a full medical assessment before leaving Mexico. Her adoption fee is $350, which includes her surgery, all vaccines, spaying, and flying her to Portland. The adoption fee will be paid directly to Cortez Rescue. Their website is cortezrescue.org.
