Description

HOOVER, AL — The Hoover Police Department now has a way for residents to communicate any special needs with police prior to an emergency situation. Hoover 911 Communications Center personnel can create a notification "flag" in the dispatch system which would alert the dispatcher on duty to relay the pertinent special needs information to first responders prior to their arrival at an address. "If you have a family member with special needs (for example, a child or an adult with autism, cerebral palsy, or Alzheimer's/dementia patients) there is a way for you to communicate those needs with us prior to an emergency situation," said the Hoover PD in a statement. "You can contact our Public Safety Communications Center and request a 'notification' be placed on your address." Information needed from the family (kept confidential):• Address• Special Needs Information• Emergency Contact Name• Emergency Contact Numbers (several, if possible) These requests should be made to Collin Nelson, Hoover 911 Communications Manager at 205-739-7076.
