LifeLine Animal Project's Pet For Life Program Sees Higher Demand

ATLANTA, GA — LifeLine Animal Project Pets for Life program provides free pet food, free veterinary care, free pet supplies, free behavior assistance and more to impoverished communities, with the goal of helping to keep pets with the people who love them. The outreach program serves metro Atlanta communities with little, to no access to pet resources. It celebrated serving its 20,000th pet this week. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the program has seen a significant increase in the number of people needing assistance. They are asking for the community to help them keep up with the demand by donating to LifeLine on May 5 #GivingTuesdayNow. An anonymous donor has agreed to match every donation made to LifeLine Animal Project up to $25,000. (Photo/LifeLine Project)According to LifeLine Senior Director of Operations Andrea Peterson, LifeLine's Pets for Life clients already deal with struggles related to living in poverty. "They already have troubles with access to pet care and supplies, because they just don't exist nearby," Peterson said. "Now with the extra stress of rising unemployment and illness, it's even more important for people to have the supplies they need to keep their pet since, for many, their pet is their only companion." Pets for Life clients are grateful for the help. According to Pets for Life client Belita, whose puppy was their 20,000th pet served, the program enables her and many other community members to care for their pets. "I am very grateful for Pets for Life," says Belita. "They are helping me keep Tyson, the stray puppy I recently took in, happy and healthy. And Tyson is family." Pets for Life Community Outreach Coordinators deliver food to clients' doorsteps and then call or text so that everyone stays at a safe distance and pets are fed and healthy.
