ATLANTA, GA — As people brought in the New Year on Wednesday, two individual families were celebrating life as they welcomed the birth of new babies. The Wellstar Health System welcomed its first babies of 2020. Bryan Robins and Amanda Wall of Kennesaw welcomed their son Luke Robins at 12:55 a.m. at WellStar Kennestone Hospital. He weighed six pounds and 15.2 ounces. The second baby of the new decade, Christian Melokhule James, was born to Mattie and Christopher James. He was delivered at 1:55 a.m. at WellStar Atlanta Medical Center weighing six pounds and nine ounces. Both babies received a literacy packet as part of the hospital's new community initiative titled, "Legacy of Love and Learning," which aims to improve literacy in Greater Atlanta and beyond by providing early access to books. Developed in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Marietta, Smyrna and Atlanta-Brasil, the new literacy program will give every baby born at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in 2020 a literacy packet and baby book.
