BIRMINGHAM, AL — UAB's 2020 football season remains in limbo, as the Blazers' scheduled game Sunday against Middle Tennessee has been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. This is the fourth game in a row UAB has had canceled. The UAB Department of Athletics is working with the Conference USA office on the possibility of rescheduling a game for this weekend. The Blazers have one remaining regular season game scheduled for next Saturday, Dec. 12 at Rice. UAB sits and 2-1 in league action and looks to make a third straight C-USA Championship game appearance if UAB can meet the league minimum for conference games played. "Coming into the season, we knew there were going to be some difficulties," UAB receiver Myron Mitchell said in a news conference. "We were kind of prepared for whatever." The Blazers' final game at Legion Field was supposed to be Nov. 27 against Southern Miss, but that game was canceled, which was a disappointment to head coach Bill Clark because of the history the team had at Legion Field and what the game meant for closure of an era of UAB football. "It is everything to our program to have gotten us to where we are," Clark said of Legion Field. "That is what has really been neat about what has happened since The Return. Our fans have really embraced it. We did a lot of great things when we brought in a group to manage our day-to-day operations. It made it nicer and made it better. The city helped us so much with that. I will always be a huge fan of Legion Field. It has been so good to us. I do think it is time to turn the page and go to this new stadium. At the same time, I will forever be a fan of Legion Field."
