MONTGOMERY, AL — As the coronavirus continues to spread exponentially through Alabama, the state's hospitals are filling up, with more than 2,000 coronavirus patients currently hospitalized. The Alabama Department of Public Health Monday reported 2,079 COVID-19 hospitalizations. The total Monday is more than twice the number of hospitalizations at the beginning of November, when the ADPH reported 980 hospitalizations from the virus. Alabama is averaging 3,244 new COVID-19 cases a day over the last week, and has added more than 400 hospitalizations in that time. UAB Hospital reported Monday 150 inpatients with COVID-19. The county's rate of positive tests stands at 33 percent.
