"Second Hand" (2019) exposes the gritty underside of Europe's used-clothing trade and the lives of the people caught up in its intricate and far-reaching web. The film exposes how clothes donated to charity in the UK become windfall for profiteers, who capture and move the goods to second-hand markets in Lithuania and other European countries.Part documentary comedy, part detective story, "Second Hand" tells the story of four Lithuanian migrants--who come to the UK in search of opportunity but who fall prey to human traffikers and organized criminals. These ringleaders appear to care less for the people they exploit than for the used and discarded clothing they peddle. Despite the clash of cultures and tragicomic incidents, the four characters manage to maintain hope, humor, and dignity in a cruel and inhumane environment thanks to their own grit and to filmmaker/director Artūras Jevdokimovas's sensitive portrayal .
