Your Role in Helping Children Cope & Heal:
This is the description: Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are circumstances that lead to an elevated risk of negative outcomes later in life. Toxic stress from ACEs can change brain development and affect how the body responds to stress. Participants will leave this session with an understanding of ACEs and be introduced to effective coping strategies. Armed with this information, adults can help reduce the negative impact of trauma and violence on children.
Caring "Too Much" - Understanding Compassion Fatigue :
Being an early childhood educator can be both physically and mentally exhausting. Add in the COVID-19 pandemic and you're overwhelmed! You devote a lot of time, energy, and professional responsibilities to many other people, but you may not devote enough time to yourself. It can be easy for educators to lose hope or burn out or develop compassion fatigue. This session will help build awareness of compassion fatigue and introduce ideas on resourceful ways to address it.
