Description
I am working with a diverse group of people (scientists, attorneys, field researchers, photographers, videographers, youth, indigenous, etc.) to help remove private, for-profit, taxpayer-compensated and -subsidized, dangerously polluting, and destructive dairy and beef ranching tenants from our publicly owned Point Reyes National Seashore.
These ranchers were paid from US government *us* nearly $400M in today's tax dollars during the 1960s-1970s to vacate the Seashore -- yet they remain as leaseholder tenants ravaging natural wildlife, habitat, soils, waters, air, and more across ~30,000 acres of the 71,000 acres Seashore. What would be native coastal prairie with an abundance of native fauna and flora continues to be a wasteland of defense-installation-sized industrial-factory ranching compounds; overgrazed mud and excrement fields; trampled streambeds; literally poisoned waters flowing to estuaries, beaches and ocean; and absolute disregard by ranchers and Point Reyes National Seashore (PRNS), National Park Service (NPS), and Department of Interior (DOI) management of sound ecology and the intention of the Seashore's founding 1962 legislation.
If you have skills, talents, interests, or affinity to actually help free the Seashore from its politically based misuse, please contact me.
