We will talk about substance abuse prevalence and prevention for middle and high school students in our area with local experts. This is a two part event. First, our expert panelists will share their experience with substance abuse in Flagler County. Palm Coast Mayor David Alfin will open the program, followed by our panelists: Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly, Flagler Drug Court Judge, Hon. Terence Perkins, Dr. Michelle Carter (Embassy of Hope Foundation), Jennifer Wills, Coordinator, Partnership and Programing at Care Connect+ (Flagler Health+), and Cynthia Lane, Family Law Attorney, Chiumento LawThe second half of our event will feature an interactive discussion with attendees and will shine a light on the great work being done by local organizations within our community. But the facts are clear, more work needs to be done. Did you know, according the 2021 Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey approximately 1-in-5 high school students admitted to being in a vehicle driven by an impaired driver? This event is coordinated by and benefits the Junior Chamber of Commerce, a 501c3 Florida non-profit organization serving students in Flagler County. We hope you can join us.
