SARASOTA, FL — A baby boy from Sarasota was killed in a single-vehicle SUV crash on State Road 681 early Wednesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release. The crash happened around 2:20 a.m. when the SUV's driver, a 26-year-old woman from Sarasota, lost control while traveling south on S.R. 681, south of Honore Avenue. After the SUV rotated, it veered off the road, overturning and hitting a tree and fence in the west shoulder of S.R. 681, FHP said. The woman and a 2-year-old girl, also from Sarasota, suffered minor injuries in the crash, which remains under investigation. Neither child nor the driver was wearing a seatbelt or child restraint, according to the FHP report.
