Description

ROSLYN, NY — Roslyn residents can weigh in on a draft work plan to investigate contamination at the Clocktower site. New York's Department of Environmental Conservation is accepting public comments about the plan through March 4. According to the department's website, an investigation at 45 Lumber Rd. will "define the nature and extent of contamination in soil, surface water, groundwater, and any other parts of the environment that may be affected." Previous investigations have detected volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds and metals in the soil and/or groundwater. You can learn more about the draft work plan and its public commenting process here. You can open, read, and save the DEC's fact sheet by using Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you don't have the program, you can go to the following webpage on the department's website to download it: https://www.dec.ny.gov/about/590.html.
