Happy Wednesday, Roanoke! Here's what's going on today in town. First, today's weather: Sun through high clouds. High: 49 Low: 39. Here are the top three stories in Roanoke today: The Roanoke Fire and EMS has seen an average increase of 4.35 percent to their call volume over the last two years. Burnout has been a big concern among the Department with it being cited 45 times in a recent anonymous survey within the Department. The Department has been under strain from COVID-related absences and the increased call volume. (WDBJ7)The Roanoke Police Department responded to a shooting yesterday. The incident occurred at the 900 block of Hanover Avenue NW and officers responded after a call to the City's 911 Center. Officers found a man with gunshot wounds at the scene and Fire-EMS transported the man to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Police are currently performing an investigation but have no suspects at this time. (WFIR News Talk Radio)Carilion Clinic has announced that they will be shifting to a yellow level visitation.
