BIRMINGHAM, AL — Votong for the general election began Tuesday morning, and as hundreds of thousands of absentee ballots have already been cast in Alabama, this election will look somewhat different with the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic. Election protocol was reportedly not a problem in the primaries in July, but Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill has allowed any voter who might be concerned about COVID-19 on election day to apply for an absentee ballot. Many polling locations around the county have changed since the last election, so voters are asked to check their polling places for any changes. (polling locations can be found here). Polls are open until 7 p.m. Related Story: Polling Location Changes For Jefferson County A sample ballot can be viewed for Jefferson County on the Alabama Secretary of State website.
