NORTH HAVEN, CT — A North Haven man is accused of stealing an electronic speed sign in town last October, according to police. The North Haven Police Traffic Division installed temporary electronic speed signs in the area of Locust Avenue in mid-October, according to police. "These signs are often installed to curb high speeds, assist in traffic surveys, and at the request of community members," police wrote in a post on Facebook. "Shortly after their installation, North Haven PD received an alert from one of the units, indicating serious damage / impact. Upon responding to check the unit, it was learned it was missing." During the investigation, the traffic division recovered the speed sign and Ralph Notaro Jr. was identified as a suspect. Notaro, 59, was arrested Monday on a warrant and charged with third-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief and tampering with physical evidence.
