ATLANTA, GA — The family of Secoriea Turner, the 8-year-old girl killed outside the Wendy's in July, announced their plans to sue the city of Atlanta. The family's attorney said the city is partly to blame because they knew armed people were blocking the public street and didn't remove them sooner, reported WSB. Julian Conley, 19, was charged with aggravated assault and felony murder in connection to Turner's death in July. Turner was shot and killed July 4th while riding in a vehicle with her mother and an adult friend when they exited the interstate onto University Avenue. The driver was attempting to enter the parking lot at 1238 Pryor Road when he was confronted by a group of armed individuals who had blocked the entrance. At some point, someone in that group opened fire on the vehicle, hitting it multiple times and striking the child who was inside. Police said the driver then drove to Atlanta Medical Center for help. The child died at the hospital. Related: Tyler Perry To Pay For Funeral Of 8-Year-Old Atlanta Girl
