HAMDEN, CT — Four people were displaced from their home after a car fire spread to the home Tuesday afternoon in Hamden, according to officials.
Crews responded to the report of a vehicle fire that was extending to the home at 25 Church Street around 4:20 p.m., according to Fire Marshal Brian Dolan.
Rescue 2 and Engine 2 arrived within two minutes and reported a fully involved vehicle fire with flames spreading across one side of the home, Dolan said.
"Fire crews worked to quickly extinguish the blaze and were able to prevent it from extending to the interior of the home," Dolan wrote in a news release. "The rapid response limited fire damage to the vehicle and the exterior vinyl siding of the home.
"Four family members are displaced until windows and some smoke damage can be repaired."
Dolan said Hamden Community Service provided assistance to the family at the scene.
Dolan is investigating the cause of the fire.
