LITTLETON, CO —The animated television show "South Park" created by Littleton's Matt Stone and Evergreen's Trey Parker, will begin its 25th season Wednesday on Comedy Central and streamed on SouthPark.cc.com, CC.com and the Comedy Central App, Comedy Central announced earlier this month. The award-winning series, which premiered in August 1997 and is set in a fictional Colorado town, returns with six new episodes. Comedy Central released a short preview of the 25th season premiere earlier this week. Last August, The Hollywood Reporter announced that MTV Entertainment Studios had signed Stone and Parker to a new $900 deal that would run through 2027. The deal reportedly includes the creation of 14 new movies made exclusively for Paramount+ streaming service —the first two were 2021's "South Park: Post COVID" and "South Park: Post COVID: The Return of COVID" — and the renewal of the series through season 30. "For the past 25 years, multiple generations of fans have grown up enchanted by the outlandishly funny and subversive world that Matt and Trey have created with South Park," said Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of ViacomCBS Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios. "As part of our expansive new deal, we are thrilled to continue our partnership with them for many more seasons of South Park on Comedy Central and many more made-for-streaming South Park exclusive events on Paramount+." Last fall, the 50-year-old Stone and 52-year-old Parker reportedly spent $3.1 million to purchase the Lakewood restaurant Casa Bonita, which was in bankruptcy. The restaurant, known for its indoor cliff diving performances —was featured in a 2004 episode of "South Park." According to the Denver Post, Casa Bonita is scheduled to reopen during the second half of 2022. Earlier this month, Variety reported that rapper/songwriter Kendrick Lamar was partnering with Stone and Parker to produce a live-action comedy for Paramount Pictures.
