IU School of Medicine Receives Record Funding from NIH

By Sarah Kuper, WNIN February 2, 2022 Indiana University's School of Medicine has received a record-breaking amount of funding from the National Institutes of Health. Indiana University School of Medicine is ranked in the top 20 medical schools in the country. Prominent research includes work on Alzheimer Disease, pediatrics and medical and molecular genetics. Now, those research areas have received a record-breaking $217 million dollars from the National Institutes of Health. Specific initiatives receiving money are research on early onset Alzheimers, Alzheimers drug therapies and pediatric asthma studies. NIH grants are some of the most prestigious in the medical field and according to a release from IU, the grants fund research, equipment and provide jobs – all leading to discoveries that address some of the nation's biggest health issues. IU School of Medicine Evansville contributes to IU's research efforts by offering research training programs and internships. WNIN is the NPR/PBS affiliate in Evansville, Indiana. We serve Southwestern Indiana, Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois from our multimedia facility located on the Ohio River in downtown Evansville.
