Woman Injured After Jumping From Jersey Shore House Fire: Reports

ASBURY PARK, NJ - A woman was hospitalized after jumping from a Jersey Shore residence to flee a house fire in Asbury Park on Monday, per multiple reports. The woman suffered from broken bones after leaping out the second story window, NJ.com reported. The fire, which was reported around 11:10 a.m. on Atkins Avenue, was controlled in roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Asbury Park Fire Chief Kevin Keddy did not return a request for comment from Patch as of Tuesday afternoon. The Asbury Park Press reports that the fire seemed to be contained to a bedroom, although it may have extended to other areas of the structure. At least four others fled the home and were lodged in a nearby rental unit. The house sustained smoke, fire and water damage but was not deemed a "total loss," NJ.com said. About 30 firefighters in total responded to the blaze, representing units from Asbury Park, Neptune, Wanamassa and Long Branch. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
