CONCORD, NH — A New Hampshire family has donated $1 million to the state's community college system. Anna Grace and Paul Holloway made the donation to the Foundation for New Hampshire Community Colleges on Wednesday to establish an endowed scholarship for students. The gift is just another example of the long relationship between the family and the system to assist those in need and the colleges, according to officials. Paul Holloway has served on the system's board of trustees for more than two decades and their scholarships have assisted students at each of the seven schools. "Our goal in making this gift is to inspire and support men and women across New Hampshire seeking affordable, flexible education and connecting them to local careers," Paul Holloway said. "We recognized that working through the Foundation was the best way we could accomplish this. It's not about us; it's about the students and the future of New Hampshire." Paul Holloway began his career working for Buick and started a dealership in Exeter in the 1960s, later becoming one of the largest dealerships in the state, Dreher-Holloway. Chancellor Mark Rubinstein thanked the family for the gift and said it showed the important role the schools make in serving the state. "The opportunities that will shape New Hampshire's future are complex and uncertain," he said, "but it is clear that the wellbeing of our citizens and the vitality of our communities will depend on engaging individuals so they can fully and successfully contribute. (The donation) will continue to serve in nurturing that talent and in building bridges for New Hampshire's future."
