MOKENA, IL — With significant snowfall accumulation expected Tuesday through Thursday, some schools are closing or going with remote learning. Patch is keeping a list of which schools in Mokena have decided to close or offer remote learning, according to information on the Emergency Closing Center website.
The following Mokena schools are closed Wednesday: (This list will update as additional schools announce closings.)
St. Mary Catholic School.Noonan Academy.Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210. (E-learning)Mokena School District 159. (E-learning) Additionally, the Mokena Community Public Library District will be closed.
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday declared a state of emergency ahead of the expected winter storms. Pritzker activated 130 members of the Illinois National Guard to ensure that all state resources are in place to prepare for Winter Storm Landon. Forecasters are saying that certain portions of Illinois could see between 1-2 feet of snow between Tuesday night and Thursday.
