MANHATTAN, IL — A rental box truck slid off the road and onto its side Wednesday, according to a Facebook post by the Will County Sheriff's Office. An Enterprise rental box truck carrying furniture slid along the road near the intersection of Cedar Road and Manhattan-Monee Road in Manhattan Township and ended up on its side, according to the post. It is unclear exactly when the rollover happened, but the post was created at approximately 11 a.m. The Will County Sheriff's Office reported that the driver and passenger of the truck were in good condition and were being taken to a warming center. A tow truck company was on the scene moving the rolled over truck. The Manhattan area has already seen 12 inches of snow fall between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, with more snow continuing to fall in the area. The Will County Sheriff's Office reported that "the fast accumulation of snowfall and windy conditions are making it difficult for snow plows to keep up with clearing main roads and even more difficult to keep side roads clear." The Sheriff's Office wrote in its post that the majority of calls it was receiving were for motorist assists with vehicles in ditches. A winter storm warning remains in effect throughout the area until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
