Description

ELMHURST, IL — An estimated 3 to 5 inches of snow fell overnight Wednesday in Elmhurst, with another 2 to 3 inches expected throughout the day, the city said in a statement Wednesday. The winter storm warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. Public works crews worked overnight to salt and plow city streets and are now completing their second pass through major roads, the city said. Because of the intensity of the snowfall, roads are covering with snow. The city plans to haul out piles of snow from downtown Wednesday evening. Garbage collection remains on schedule, but the city said it may take longer than usual. In another development, Elmhurst School District 205 announced it was canceling after-school activities at elementary and middle schools Wednesday. High school activities will remain as scheduled, unless participants are notified otherwise by program supervisors, the district said. The after-school childcare program, known as RecStation, will operate under its normal schedule, according to the district.
